RAUB: Arsonists set fire to a bank in Bandar Raub Perdana here in the early hours of Sunday morning, damaging two air-conditioners and the fire alarm system.
Authorities are still trying to determine a motive for the arson attack.
Raub OCPD Supt Wan Zahari Wan Busu said police would investigate the case as mischief by fire or explosive substance under Section 436 of the Penal Code.
He said that police have yet to identify the culprits, adding that closed-circuit television footage would be used to track them down.
“We suspect that this is the work of vandals, and total losses are still being investigated,” added Supt Wan Zahari.
He also said that the Fire and Rescue Department’s forensic unit had been called in to assist, and that samples had been taken.
Supt Wan Zahari added that evidence recovered so far suggested that pamphlets in the bank were used to start the fire.
