Subra: Najib to look into laws governing unilateral child conversion

KLANG: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has principally agreed to look into the possibility of amending existing laws to prevent the unilateral conversion of children, says Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam (pic).

The MIC president said that the Prime Minister, together with the Cabinet, wanted the issue resolved as Malaysia was a plural society.

"I brought up the issue again at the last Cabinet meeting, and the Prime Minister has asked three ministers to speak to the Attorney-General and look into the matter.

"He has also principally agreed to look at amendments on the existing laws to prevent unilateral conversion on children," he said when met after visiting SJK (T) Simpang Lima for a "Back to School" programme here Monday.
