Grass cutter stumbles across sunbathing crocodile

A grass cutter in Malacca panicked when he came across a two-metre long crocodile in a drain near Melaka Perdana Monday, which was said to be "sunbathing". According to the State Civil Defense Department head, Effendy Ali, the 80kg-crocodile is believed to have come from a canal located about 100m away. The officers took 30 minutes to catch the crocodile, which reacted aggressively, and handed the reptile over to the state Wildlife Department.

An Iban couple in Bintulu were left heartbroken after their only daughter, aged five, drowned in the river where their house is located in Bakun Dam, Belaga. The victim, Lydia Inah Mosir Rugai, reportedly fell from their house which is built above water. Both parents were taking an afternoon nap when the accident happened at 12.15pm, Monday. Belaga district police chief Dept Supt Melay Tingom, said the couple realised that the victim was missing 30 minutes later when the child did not respond to their calls. The father then jumped into the river and found the girl's body 20m away.
