Society president warns collectors to beware of conmen

John advised collectors to go to legitimate sources to check on the value of the items they want to sell.

SIBU: Collectors of old bank notes, coins and stamps who want to sell them are advised to do it through proper channels to avoid being cheated.

Sarawak Philatelic and Numismatic Society president John Goh advised this in response to a report by The Star on Thursday on a 23-year-old lorry driver who was cheated of RM1,000 after he advertised on his Facebook account of his intention to sell several pieces of his 1973 20 sen coins.
