Leading wine critic Robert Parker Jr. has announced plans to launch a new lifestyle magazine that will target readers with expensive taste.
To be called 100 Points by Robert Parker, the magazine will be launched in partnership with Hubert Burda Media which currently publishes 300 magazines.
Readers can expect a mix of long form features as well as shorter service pieces that will provide useful consumer information.
Unlike his Parker’s flagship brand The Wine Advocate, however, 100 Points by Robert Parker will accept advertising and will initially be published quarterly.
Published bimonthly, The Wine Advocate is pitched as an unbiased e-magazine that delivers about 20,000 reviews every year, free from the political and financial sway of advertisers.
Following a major shake-up at the longstanding brand in 2012 that included the appointment of a new editor-in-chief, the magazine moved to digital only.
The new magazine marks Parker’s re-entry into the publishing world.
Parker is widely described as one of the world’s most influential wine critics.
The publication of a new magazine is the latest in a string of new entrepreneurial developments for the critic. Parker recently wrapped up a series of masterclass tastings and gala dinners for oenophiles in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore as part of a world wine tour that will also hit the US and Europe this year.
Dates are to be announced.
