Newborn baby rescued from kidnappers in Malacca

MALACCA: A newborn baby who was kidnapped here has been reunited with his family, according to police.  

Police rescued the 12-day-old baby boy from the clutches of his abductors during a raid at house in Pulau Gadong.

Malacca police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Chuah Ghee Lye (pic) expressed his delight that the child was unharmed and had been reunited with his family on the same day he was rescued.

DCP Chuah is expected to hold a press conference later Thursday to reveal more details over the case.

It is learnt that three female suspects were detained in the raid that ended at midnight.

The newborn went missing after a woman allegedly carried the child from his home in Kota Laksamana.

The woman trespassed into the home at about 6.30pm on Tuesday and snatched the baby who was in his cradle at the living room while the mother was taking a nap in her room.

The child's babysitter, a foreigner, was preparing milk when the incident occurred.

Neighbours did not suspect anything amiss until they heard the 20-year-old mother screaming that her baby had gone missing.
