Himpun 16: Three injured as red shirts refuse to back down at Petaling Street

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of red shirt protesters in Petaling Street are refusing to back down in a stand-off with the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) even after water cannons were fired at them.

The group insisted that they should be allowed to enter Petaling Street and threatened to break through the FRU barricade.

Two policemen and a protester are reported to have been injured in the clash. All three are receiving medical attention.

At 4.53pm Wednesday, the FRU fired water cannons in Petaling Street as the crowd of protesters there turned unruly.

Bottles were reported to have been thrown by protesters and some were seen to be bleeding due to the commotion before the FRU fired the cannons.
