Grey Goose Vodka is spiked with cognac in latest spirit hybrid launch.
Spirits are increasingly going hybrid, with unexpected liquors being mixed together to form two-for-one bottles like Vodquila (vodka and tequila) and cognac-spiked vodka.
Grey Goose Vodka is the latest to jump on the industry-wide trend, with the launch of Grey Goose VX in the United States, vodka spiked with a cognac made exclusively for the brand that uses grapes from France’s Champagne region.
The result is a product described as having “hints of white fruit blossom, plum, apricot, light citrus and wild honey, followed by a long, lingering finish.” The premium liquor is presented in a decanter made from “extra flint” or refractory glass, and is topped with a collectible bottle stopper.
Grey Goose VX is the latest spirit hybrid on the market. The Internet billed Red Louie’s Vodquila a kind of “two-for-one” hangover, given its mix of vodka and tequila.
Created by a father and daughter duo in Birmingham, Alabama in the US, Vodquila is a mix of premium vodka and tequila, made from Pure Blue Agave Plants distilled from Jalisco, Mexico. The spirit also won a silver award at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London last month.
Other spirit and wine blends include the Courvoisier Rose, made with Cognac and red wine grapes; Absolut Tune, made with sparkling Sauvignon Blanc and Absolut vodka; and Jinzu, a mix of gin and sake. Grey Goose VX will launch in select markets across the US and will be sold at fine restaurants, nightclubs and bars starting Sept 1. — AFP Relaxnews
