BERLIN: Nintendo is giving the Switch 2 better mobile graphics as part of a system update that adds a new setting called Handheld Boost mode.
After a software update announced in March, a new option should appears in your Switch 2's settings. Turn on Handheld Boost mode, and the Switch behaves as if it were connected to a television in docked mode – even when you're on the go.
That means 1080p resolution rather than just 720p, making full use of the Switch 2 display’s capabilities, Nintendo says.
However, there is a downside: gamers should expect the Switch to use more battery power in Boost mode, limiting how long they can play while out and about. The option must be enabled first and can be disabled again at any time.
The update to software version 22.0.0 also includes bug fixes and improved system stability. It also brings improvements to GameChat invitations and enables notes on friends lists. In airplane mode, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC can now be switched on or off individually.
Nintendo said the software update is usually downloaded automatically and offered for installation when the Switch 2 is connected to the internet.
Alternatively, users can install it manually. Users can go to the System Settings menu, check the current system version and, if necessary, start the update manually. – dpa
