UPDATE: Pre-orders are now open via the Official Malaysian Nintendo Store, with the console priced at RM2,488, and the option to get a bundle with Mario Kart World priced at RM2,688.

Nintendo has confirmed a July 3 release date for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 in Malaysia. The Malaysian release date comes a week after the scheduled launch date for the console in Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The announcement page on Nintendo’s website states that a bundle featuring the new console and a copy of the launch title, Mario Kart World, will be available on release day.

Another early title for the Switch 2 will be Donkey Kong Bananza, due on July 17. While details are somewhat sparse on the new games available at launch, the console is fully backwards compatible with titles from the original Switch.

A range of accessories will also launch on the same day, including the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Joy-Con 2 Wheel, Switch 2 Camera, Joy-Con 2 controllers, Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip, a carrying case with screen protector, and a charging adapter.

Pricing for the home and handheld hybrid console was not included in the announcement. The device costs US$449.99 (RM1,916) in the United States, and S$719 (RM2,379) in Singapore.

Local gamers had previously speculated that it would be priced between RM2,000 to RM2,500 once it hits Malaysian shores.

The Japanese gaming giant had previously said that a Malaysian Switch 2 launch was scheduled for sometime between July and September 2025.

The new Switch 2 is equipped with a 7.9in LCD screen, powered by an upgraded processor for smoother performance and improved graphical capabilities.

It comes with Joy-Con 2 controllers that can also double as a mouse for further precision in supported games, along with 256GB storage, with up to 2TB expandability.

The Nintendo Switch 2 sold 3.5 million units in the first four days following its international launch, with Nintendo expecting to achieve 15 million sales within the financial year.
