Bolt rides will now include toll charges in the total fare before booking in the app to streamline journeys and reduce administrative distractions for drivers.

The e-hailing provider said in a press release that before the new feature, tolls were typically calculated separately or post-trip.

It further said that around 30% of Bolt rides in Malaysia pass through at least one toll, making the manual reconciliation for toll charges a key operational pain point for both riders and drivers.

Bolt Malaysia general manager, Afzan Lutfi, said: “Integrating toll fares directly into our ride calculations reflects our understanding of everyday driving challenges in Malaysia.

"We know that tolls are an essential part of the driving experience here, and by automating the process, we eliminate unnecessary guesswork for both partner drivers and passengers.”

According to Bolt, it is the first e-hailing provider in Malaysia to include toll charges in its fare calculation before a ride is booked.
