WhatsApp has announced that it is now rolling out the option to enable "Advanced Chat Privacy" in both direct chats and chat groups, which it says will enhance privacy by preventing other users from harvesting content from within the messaging app.
In a blogpost made to its website, WhatsApp says that when enabled, the feature will block others from exporting chats, auto-downloading media to their devices, and using messages for artificial intelligence (AI) features.
It is worth noting that the feature is not enabled by default in the app, but must be manually turned on for each chat and group. Users can do this by tapping on the chat name and then selecting "Advanced Chat Privacy".
The feature is now being rolled out to all users on the latest version of WhatsApp.
The messaging app further says that this rollout will be for the initial version of the feature, and that it plans to eventually add further protections for users via "Advanced Chat Privacy".
