The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to be priced between US$400 (RM1,772) to US$500 (RM2,215) according to analysts in a Bloomberg report, making it priced on par with Sony's PlayStation 5 and the most expensive Nintendo console yet.

Tokyo-based analyst Serkan Toto said that regardless of the potential price hike, Nintendo will still "sell boatloads of Switch 2 in the first months in particular".

He further cites expectations of a strong software lineup for the Switch 2's first year, including a new Mario Kart, 3D Mario game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4.

Other analysts expect a June launch for the new console and expect an increase of at least US$100 (RM443) over the previous release.

Analyst Hideki Yasuda from Toyo Securities was quoted by Bloomberg saying that “the original Switch’s Nvidia chip is estimated to cost US$80 (RM354) per unit, while the Switch 2’s chip is likely to be in the US$130-US$150 (RM575-RM664) range."

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with US$499 (RM2,210).”

The anticipated launch date of the Switch 2 is still currently in the dark, with Nintendo announcing that the console would be released sometime in 2025.

An upcoming Nintendo Direct centred around the Switch 2 is scheduled for April 2.
