TRX and Bukit Bintang MRT stations now accept card payments at token machines

PETALING JAYA: RapidKL has started its rollout of debit and credit card payment options at token vending machines for the Kajang MRT line, with the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Bukit Bintang stations already supporting these payment methods.

Commuters will also be able to purchase tokens using Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay at the stations.

When contacted by LifestyleTech, a representative from RapidKL’s parent company Prasarana said that the current implementation is in a “trial phase” for the Kajang Line.

Note that banking cards and contactless payment systems are currently only accepted at the token vending machines, not at the entry gates at MRT stations.

The move to accept card payments is in line with instructions from Transport Minister Anthony Loke issued back in 2023 for public transport operators to adopt open payment systems, which is expected to be completed for all Klang Valley rail lines by August this year.
