HP Malaysia introduced its 2023 gaming laptop lineup, including the Omen 16 and Victus 16, both of which are available with processor options from the latest generation AMD and Intel platforms, along with a Nvidia RTX 40-series graphic card.
Despite the Victus being positioned as the company’s entry-level laptop intended for casual gaming, it can be configured with a 13th-generation Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series processor, as well as a RTX 4070 laptop graphic card.
The base configuration features an Intel Core i5-13500HX, an RTX 3050 laptop GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM running at 4,800MHz, a 512GB solid-state drive (SSD), and a 144Hz 1080p display. This configuration is priced at RM4,399.
Alternatively, the AMD base configuration has a Ryzen 5 7640HS with the RTX 3050 laptop GPU and 16 GB of DDR RAM running at 5,600MHz, alongside the aforementioned display and internal drive, but at a slightly lower price of RM4,149.
The display of the Victus 16 measures 16.1in and ranges from 1080p to 1440p with a refresh rate between 144Hz and 240Hz, depending on the selected model.
Both the Intel and AMD versions come with a 1080p webcam, audio tuned by Bang and Olufsen, and a RGB backlit laptop keyboard with a number pad.
At the highest end, users have the option to grab the Victus 16 with a more recent laptop version of the RTX 4070, as well as a more powerful processor with either a Core i7-13700HX (RM6,999) or Ryzen 7 7840HS (RM6,199) chip.
When it comes to inputs and outputs, the Victus 16 chassis is not lacking – it has three USB type-A ports, a single USB type-C port capable of power delivery, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, a HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ45 port for Ethernet, and a headphone microphone combo jack.
As for the company’s more premium offering, the Omen 16, the laptop specs go up to either a Core i9 13900HX or a Ryzen 9 7940H and a laptop RTX 4070 graphic card.
The base specs of the Intel version include an i5-13500HX, while the AMD version has a Ryzen 5 7640HS. This model includes a laptop version of the RTX3050 GPU.
In terms of inputs and outputs on the Omen, the Intel version features two Thunderbolt USB type-C ports (capable of power delivery and supporting DisplayPort 1.4), two USB type-A ports, a HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ45 port, a charging barrel port, and a headphone microphone combo port.
The AMD version is largely the same, except that the two ThunderBolt ports are swapped out for two USB Type-C ports instead.
Similar to the Victus 16, the Omen 16 has a display measuring 16.1in, ranging from 1080p to 1440p, with a refresh rate between 144Hz and 240Hz depending on the selected model.
The Omen 16 chassis design allows for higher airflow with a fourth vent added on top of the existing three from last year’s model.
The cooling vents are positioned at the rear to stay out of the way.
The Omen 16 line is available from RM6,899 onwards, with the highest- end Intel model priced at RM10,999 (Core i9 13900HX) and the AMD model at RM8,999 (Ryzen 9 7940H), both armed with an RTX4070.
Purchases of the Omen 16 laptop before Aug 31 will also bag buyers goodies such as a free HyperX headset worth RM169.
A version of the Omen 16 equipped with an RTX4080 is expected to hit Malaysian shores sometime this month.
The company also teased the Omen Transend 16, coming at the same time in August.
The Transend 16 will come with a laptop edition of the RTX4080 and either a Core i9 or Ryzen 9 for RM10,999.
HP claims that the Transend 16 is its slimmest and lightest gaming laptop yet, weighing less than 2.1kg in its lightest configuration, and is intended to be both portable and powerful.
It will also have a display capable of up to 240Hz refresh rates and a 16:10 aspect ratio.
