BERLIN: It’s hard to overlook: If the little light is still on, that means your electric device is in standby mode, idly consuming energy regardless of how many times you’ve pressed your laptop’s off button.
Australian electricity generator Origin Energy calls standby “the vampire in your home”. According to the company, an average household can save up to US$68 (RM303) per year by turning off all appliances properly.
