PETALING JAYA: The hashtag #Selangor is a trending topic on Twitter today (Oct 13) with more than 13,000 tweets as most users created posts referring to a scheduled water cut by Air Selangor.
Some users shared their water storage collection and pointed out how those affected by the water cut can relate to the game Where’s My Water?, a popular mobile puzzle game. Another user joked that those living in Selangor will be crossing states just for a bath.
Malaysians have regularly taken to Twitter to highlight water woes in Selangor.
Last year, the issue even caught the attention of American molecular scientist Raven Baxter, who shared that a significant portion of retweets on her Twitter post about NASA’s discovery of water on the moon were from people in Selangor sharing their water woes.
At the time, some users joked that those living in Selangor should consider moving to the moon to avoid being affected by water supply disruption.
Air Selangor has received some positive feedback from users on Twitter who thanked the company for early reminders about the water cut.
The company announced on Oct 1 that water supply will be disrupted starting at 9am on Oct 13 for upgrading and maintenance works at Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant, affecting eight regions including Kuala Lumpur, Petaling and Shah Alam. Water supply is expected to be fully restored on Oct 16 at 9pm.
Members of the public can go to its website for information on affected areas and get updates on water supply restoration. They can also look up Commercial Water Filling Station and Public Water Tap through the map on the website. Additionally, they can also download the Air Selangor app.
