The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) wants the public’s thought on how to proceed with the National Digital Identity (NDI) plan.
The regulatory body said the feedback would be used to improve and evaluate the existing framework, allowing it to implement what's best for individuals and organisations.
NDI would make verification faster and more secure, speeding up services that required identification while reducing the risk of identity theft or fraud online.
“To prepare Malaysia for a digital era, MCMC has started a public consultation to collect opinions and perspectives of the public on the NDI framework,” it said, in a press release.

MCMC is also studying how NDI is being employed by other nations, including Estonia, the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.
Users have until Aug 7 to share their opinion on NDI at the MCMC website.
