University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) will be using green screen effects for its graduation ceremony to maintain social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Students will have to attend a photo shoot against a green screen backdrop and will later be Photoshopped to look like they received their degree or diploma from the counsellor or vice-counsellor.
UiTM said this will give graduates the opportunity to put on their robes and take photos for remembrance without waiting till next year, and allow them to collect their scrolls and official transcripts.
In a YouTube video, it said the process will only take 15 minutes.
The students will receive their graduation robes from a staff member wearing full-body PPE (personal protective equipment) before going to a studio to get three poses taken.
They will also be given three minutes to take selfies with their family.
Upon checking out, students will have to drop off their robes to be disinfected, and scan a QR code to get their photos printed or emailed.
The university assured students that the photos will be of the same quality as the previous convocation's as the programme will be managed by the UiTM Photo Centre.
As the photography sessions will be held at UiTM Shah Alam and all its branches in other states, it advised students to attend sessions in their respective states.
They will be required to fill up a form before June 30 to their confirm attendance and graduation details.
These measures will minimise the risk of Covid-19 infection, it said, as the process complies with the government’s standard operating procedure (SOP) established during the recovery movement control order (RMCO).
