Both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will support standard wired headphones and headsets.
The PlayStation 5's controller, the DualSense, will still allow players to plug in wired headsets, according to PlayStation team product manager Toshimasa Aoki.
Aoki's confirmation makes sense of a 3.5mm port spotted on the underside of the DualSense.
In an era when flagship smartphones have been opting for USB-C or wireless Bluetooth connections, the statement also puts PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on equal footing as far as support for traditional personal audio goes, for the time being at least.
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are both projected to launch during Holiday 2020, towards the end of the year. – AFP Relaxnews
