Diablo and Overwatch fans are collectively wetting themselves at the first glimpses at two long-awaited releases from Activision Blizzard.
The blockbuster games manufacturer hasn't yet named a release date for Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, but we do have plenty of gameplay footage shown at its Blizzcon conference in Anaheim, California.
A cinematic trailer as well as some gameplay footage give us a taste of the action adventure awaiting players of Diablo 4, set many years after the events of Diablo 3.
The fourth instalment, planned for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, delves deeper into the saga's darker roots, in contrast to the rather colourful third game in the Diablo saga.
The designers say Diablo 4 will combine the mood of the first part (1996), the loot hunting from of the second (2000) and the combat system of the third part (2012).
The sequel to Overwatch, meanwhile, will put the heroes at the centre of story missions, as the trailer shows. The team-based first-person shooter will let players compete against non-player characters and level up their own characters, just like in Diablo, while the 6x6 team combat mode remains central.
The makers say Overwatch 2 will also share plenty of content from the first part and players will be able to transfer certain objects from the first to the second part.– dpa
