Online shoppers who are hoping to track their parcel deliveries online may be in for a wait as Pos Malaysia has announced that their website is currently inaccessible due to technical issues.

The postal delivery service company issued a statement on its social media platforms on Oct 20 to inform users of the ongoing downtime, adding that a technical team is also in the process of rectifying the technical issues.

In a separate statement posted today, Pos Malaysia said that during an IT upgrading exercise it identified some internal systems that are at risk of experiencing technical issues and therefore decided to proactively shut down a number of systems and applications to prevent any further issues. The website shutdown is currently preventing users from checking information such as tracking their delivery status as they are also unable to access the Pos Laju website at this time. A number of e-commerce merchants have also taken to social media to inform their customers about the downtime.

However in replies to users on Facebook, Pos Malaysia reassured users that "the delivery of items will be running as normal" and apologised for any inconvenience caused, and urged users to get updates on their social media.

In response to enquiries from The Star, a Pos Malaysia Bhd spokesperson said the company is experiencing technical issues that are affecting several systems and online services nationwide.

"Currently, proactive steps are being taken by our IT recovery team to ensure minimal impact to our customers and business partners. While contingency plans are being considered to rectify and restore online operations, majority of our services at all Pos Malaysia branches are still available," the spokesperson said in a statement to The Star.

The company has appealed to its customers for patience while the rectification process is underway.
