The Selangor Aviation Show is a regional networking platform for industry players to showcase the future of the aviation and aerospace industry, and to network and explore investment and partners.

DVIATION Group was set up in 2012 after its founders Kevin Teoh and T. Ganesh identified a critical gap in the independent aviation training landscape.

As licensed aircraft maintenance engineers themselves, the duo recognised the scarcity in specialised technical training organisations for upskilling and career advancement.

In response, they formed Dviation Group – an independent aviation training organisation that has since evolved into an end-to-end life cycle asset solution provider.

Today, the organisation, has found itself in a unique position in the industry, with operations spanning from Asia to Europe. Dviation covers a range of diverse services, from aircraft maintenance to consultancy, and even sustainability.

Commitment to sustainability

Dviation Group’s new business unit, KarbonMRO, highlights Dviation’s dedication to decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives.

With a focus on innovative sustainable technologies, KarbonMRO aligns with the industry’s efforts to reduce emissions and embrace cleaner technologies.

Dviation’s willingness to embrace new technologies and take on next-generation aerial vehicles like electric vertical and landing (eVTOL) aircraft reflects its commitment to sustainability – in particular, the global aviation industry’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Skill shortage

Besides working towards decarbonization, Teoh shares that a big challenge in this niche industry is sourcing skilled workers within a limited talent pool, as this sector demands knowledgable expertise.

He assures prospective candidates that, despite it being very technical in nature, a career in aviation can be very rewarding.

The extended period required to acquire these skillsets means that the departure of experienced professionals during the pandemic left a void in the workforce. This issue is further exacerbated by the lack of available maintenance slots, resulting in a reduced availability of serviceable aircraft that can match the increasing demand for air travel.

However, Teoh maintains an optimistic outlook, noting that “while Asia is slightly lacking in terms of speed of recovery, today, the industry has returned to operating at 90% of worldwide averages,” signaling promising opportunities.

He believes Dviation’s roots as an aviation training organisation mitigated some impact from the pandemic.

Dviation Group's strategic location in Selangor provides the company with a conducive environment to thrive. Its connectivity, airport facilities, and access to a talent pool have proven pivotal in Dviation’s seamless operations.

Additionally, collaboration with local vocational institutes ensures a continuous flow of skilled professionals.

Despite losses and setbacks in the last two years due to the pandemic, Dviation has bounced back and is well-positioned to provide aircraft maintenance services and technical training solutions in this region – and their appearance at the Selangor Aviation Show 2023 is a testament to its progress.

Selangor Aviation Show 2023

Teoh says the privilege of participating in the upcoming Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) at SkyPark RAC Subang (Sept 7-9) provides a vital opportunity to shed light on the aviation ecosystem.

It is here that Dviation will showcase KarbonMRO to the public and talk about the various job opportunities available in aviation.

With plans for KarbonMRO’s expansion on the horizon, Dviation is on the lookout for fresh talents to join the industry.

The SAS will be the ideal setting to engage with industry players, gain insights, and find out about job prospects in the aviation sector.

Dviation Group acknowledges the invaluable aid Invest Selangor has provided in facilitating business-to-business (B2B) connections, providing recommendations, and championing local businesses.

Teoh recounts the support of Invest Selangor in securing exclusive rights as the authorised service centre for Honda Jets – the world’s most advanced light jet – in South-East Asia, for Dviation.

Invest Selangor has been a vital partner in assisting with infrastructure and facility search, even attracting foreign investment to the region.

As the aviation sector continues to evolve, companies like Dviation will play a critical role in propelling the industry to new heights of innovation and sustainability.
