Get the best medical care right at your doorstep with Allianz Care@Home

While we ideally picture ourselves living in perfect health conditions, we know that there are some days when we feel ill, have low energy levels, and understandably prefer to stay and recover in the comfort of our own homes. Imagine feeling queasy, your body aching, or even gastrointestinal discomfort, and having to face the dreadful commute – out of the house and into traffic – to the hospital to wait for treatment, especially under those conditions.

Understanding the feeling of customers in their times of need, Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Life), in partnership with Speedoc, stepped up and launched the Allianz Care@Home last October, to provide direct-to-home professional help for qualified illnesses such as Covid-19 (Category 3, 4, and 5, while waiting for a hospital bed) and dengue, for Allianz Life Individual Hospitalisation and Surgical (H&S) customers.

According to Charles Ong, Allianz Life chief executive officer, Allianz Care@Home is part of the company’s mission to be its customers’ health partner in providing service excellence beyond protection for stronger confidence in tomorrow.

As a pioneer in home-based medical services in the market, Allianz Care@Home has been continuously providing much-needed healthcare support amidst the recent resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the country especially following the report in mid-July by Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director-General of Health Malaysia, that stated Covid-19 Category 1 and 2 hospital admissions have increased by 14%, while Category 3, 4, and 5 admissions increased by 17%.

"Allianz Care@Home was fast and responsive to my request when I was diagnosed with Covid-19 in March,” says Adam*, an Allianz Life customer. “I was alone at home as my family members were admitted to hospital. The doctor who came and see me was friendly and explained all details to me with patience. He also did a thorough check on my condition when he visited me at my home. Overall, the Allianz Care@Home service was good and reliable.”

Another positive outcome from a Covid-19 experience was shared by Wan*:

“I’m happy with the Allianz Care@Home service when I had Covid-19 in March this year. They visited me at home and ensured my condition was stable. Speaking to the doctor was very helpful, together with explanation on how I can manage myself during the hard time. It was a good experience with Allianz Care@Home and I highly recommend it to others.”

Allianz Care@Home is also prepared to help in response to the country’s healthcare system which is now focusing and geared towards the expected influx of dengue cases from May and peaking after the monsoon in August, according to data issued by the Health Ministry's Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.

“In light of the expected spike in dengue cases, Allianz Care@Home gives our clients the comfort of knowing they can get the best professional medical care without having to go through the hassle of waiting for admittance in a hospital,” Charles assured.

On top of Covid-19 (Category 3, 4, and 5) and dengue, Allianz Care@Home has also recently added two new illnesses under its coverage; cellulitis and gastroenteritis.

“As most cases of cellulitis and gastroenteritis can be managed in a home setting, patients diagnosed with these conditions can also benefit from the professional medical care of Allianz Care@Home by getting the medical help at home," Charles said.

“We are making it easier for our customers to receive the care they need that will allow them to skip the hassle of hospitalisation for qualified illnesses wherever possible. The importance of the partnership between Allianz Life and Speedoc is a testament to our vision in improving healthcare accessibility for all.

“Besides enabling quicker recovery in the comfort of their own homes, getting medical assistance at home can also reduce the risk of airborne disease transmission in some hospitals,” he added.

Speedoc's exclusive home monitoring service for the four qualified illnesses listed above includes home visits by a doctor and nurse(s), medical treatment, therapy, or support, a 24/7 helpline, a referral letter/summary note to a medical service centre, and assistance with hospital admission and ambulance arrangements.

Speedoc Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder, Dr Shravan Verma said, “Allianz and Speedoc are trailblazing in shaping a new healthcare landscape where patients can choose to recover from home instead of hospitals. Speedoc is excited to be at the forefront of pushing healthcare beyond current times.”

Allianz Care@Home is currently available in Klang Valley, Penang, Ipoh, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor. The service coverage will be expanded to more states soon.
