Take your office outside

Symphony Square stands proudly as an icon of the office space of the future.

A WELCOMING oasis of greenery and calm, Menara Symphony (Symphony Square) stands proudly as an icon of the office space of the future. With an emphasis on integrating developments within Section 13 Petaling Jaya, Symphony Square capitalises its excellent connectivity to commercial hubs and transportation infrastructure within the vicinity to offer tenants all-inclusive comprehensive convenience, amenities and services without needing to leave the workplace.

This iconic project by Symphony Life Berhad embodies the perfect expression of urban sophistication and elegance. In recognition of excellence displayed in this development, Symphony Life Berhad has been named winner in the Office Category of the Malaysia Property Award 2021 held by the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI). The prestigious Awards is widely known as the “Oscar” Award for the real estate industry, and is the gold standard for distinguished developers.

Conceptualised and designed by Garis Architects together with an excellent team in Symphony Life Berhad, Symphony Square stood out at the judging table due to its “cubes-within-cubes” design concept which expresses a symphonic sea of cubes that harmoniously come together in a floating glass composition, in calming shades of blue that shift throughout the day to create definition and depth for a three-dimensional effect.

The cube concept also hollows out the space within by allowing the interior activities to be displayed externally. The office tower is divided into two wings with a sky garden shaft carved into the middle. This provides tenants visual features and added flexibility in designing their office by integrating the sky garden into their workplace experience.

This forward-looking spatial configuration allows for easy and access control by compartmentalising or zoning according to needs. The Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) air-conditioning system can also be specific to zones, unlike the normal centralised system, which means companies can have better control over its usage by adjusting to desirable settings or simply switching it off in the areas where it is not needed.

This benefits the environment as well as improves flexibility of tenants to control their workspace better. The friendly boutique-sized workplace concept allows for communal interaction within the building – a strategic design and development move forward towards the future of office space by removing anonymity among tenants by fostering greater interactions and connections through the usage of common amenities.

The facilities and amenities housed within Symphony Square have also been planned to complement each other with regards to the needs of the tenants and surrounding community. One such example is the 120-seat auditorium on the fourth floor with its own private drop-off and foyer via the express vehicular ramp that leads directly to it. Other facilities and amenities available include a co-cooking space where communal and team-building events can be held as well as surau facilities.

Being an MSC and GBI status building, Symphony Square has attracted a good mix of reputable and established multinational companies, such as Volvo Car Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which has its Regional Learning and Development Centre within the building, and Universal Music Sdn Bhd, Eppendorf Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd, OTIS Elevator Company Malaysia Sdn Bhd. Boardroom Outsource Service Sdn Bhd, Brother International (M) Sdn Bhd among others.

As a GBI building, green facilities are provided, and a key innovation amongst them is the optimisation of rainwater harvesting using gravity to irrigate plants and recycling of rainwater incorporated as a feature of the public realm design. In a bid towards integrating the community, the spaces in front of the building are designed to be pedestrian-friendly and offer a safe zone for people to walk in and a purpose-built pedestrian bridge links Symphony Square to the adjacent Damansara Utama Methodist Church (Dream Centre).

Plans are in the pipeline to extend the linkage to nearby Plaza 33 as well as other surrounding buildings. This is in line with the project vision and direction to allow interaction between the surrounding community and the building itself. The entire Symphony Square is designed to exude a more laid-back, communal feel without compromising on corporate image.

To this end, a separate, secured and exclusive lobby serves offices within the building while fully complementing the public concourse and shops. As Symphony Life fully owns the building and has its own headquarters within, the company has full control over its tenant profile and is able to quickly respond to any building maintenance issue, as the building management team is in-house.

Through the past two trying years, Symphony Life Berhad has risen to the challenge by seamlessly adopting the transition to digital mediums for customer interaction and marketing activities in launching properties. The company has also put emphasis on sustainability and corporate governance moving forwards that includes placing greater focus on the health, safety and well-being of its people and the community.

Having adopted a strategic view towards sustainability and value creation, Symphony Life Berhad has also looked into using more eco-friendly methods in construction and materials as much as possible. In the face of the pandemic and subsequent economic recovery, the company is implementing strategies to remain competitive and resilient, such as focusing on meeting real market demands and continuing to collaborate with all stakeholders within the property ecosystem.

Though the external outlook is still challenging, the company is looking at promising prospects by embarking on strategic plans to bring Symphony Life Berhad to the next level and to distinguish its brand and value proposition in the industry. The company has some upcoming projects in the pipeline strategically located in Klang Valley.

The strategic landbanks are located in Mont Kiara, Cheras and Damansara Heights as well as a township up north in Amanjaya, Kedah and a premium residential development on the East Coast - Tijani Raja Dewa in Kelantan. Among Symphony Life Bhd’s notable completed developments are Star Residences at KLCC and Star Residences Tower Three - known as Ascott Star, offering five-star luxury living with worldclass hospitality service slated to be opening its doors in April 2022. There are also 626 newly completed condominium units at Sunway Union Suites, Bandar Sunway.
