Courses to kickstart your business journey

Students can build connections across the three University of Nottingham campuses and students with good academic standing have access to campus mobility or exchange programme opportunities.

IF you aspire to run your own business, a business degree or even a Master of Business Administration (MBA) is for you.

The right course gives you a holistic view of current and prospective business issues needed to run your own business.

Besides that, as a future entrepreneur, you would need to be armed with a slew of skillsets that include technical, business-related, and interpersonal competencies, to succeed.

“Our business graduates possess the skillsets and building blocks to develop resilient and agile strategies and lead organisations that meet future business needs, especially the sustainability imperative,” said Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences dean Dr Jason Pandya-Wood.

“In a competitive business environment, graduates and entrepreneurs need to understand consumers, build the core competencies of the firm, and, design appropriate strategies and positioning through effective marketing and branding,” he added.

“This physical exchange enables students to strengthen their global identity and exposes them to a variety of cultures in the global economy,” said Pandya-Wood.“This physical exchange enables students to strengthen their global identity and exposes them to a variety of cultures in the global economy,” said Pandya-Wood.

Established in 2000, Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia has over two decades of experience in teaching and scholarship in business, economics, management, and finance – providing students with insights into Asian business growth and development during their studies.

“At NUBS Malaysia, students learn all this during their degree, and they apply it through individual and group assessments, and in the clubs and societies at the university,” he said.

Once enrolled in the MBA programme, students would be privy to invited industry and thought leaders along with short workshops organised to introduce students to new technologies and contemporary business challenges.

Students would also have the opportunity to take electives on business in the current digital environment and also take part in highly anticipated international study tours which offer students the opportunity to gain direct knowledge of doing business in various parts of the world, including emerging markets.

Aspiring entrepreneurs would also be able to take several entrepreneurship-focused courses that encourage students to investigate and experience the processes involved in creating a new venture, including through a gamified learning environment, alongside the generation and assessment of entrepreneurial ideas.

Furthermore, NUBS students can build connections across the three University of Nottingham campuses. Students with good academic standing have access to campus mobility or exchange programme opportunities.

“Some students spend a semester in our UK or China campus, or other universities worldwide through the Universitas 21 exchange programme.

“This physical exchange enables students to strengthen their global identity and exposes them to a variety of cultures in the global economy,” said Pandya-Wood.

Nottingham’s MBA programme is ranked among the top three UK business schools and is placed 55th globally in the Economist 2021 “Which MBA” Full-Time MBA ranking. Corporate Knights 2020 ranks the NUBS MBA fifth in the world and third in the UK for MBA education and faculty research in sustainability issues.

NUBS is accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA) with a vision to shape the future of responsible business and management in an increasingly interconnected world.
