FROM fresh fruit and vegetables, cold meats, cheese to quality meats and specialty groceries, shoppers to Sunway Putra Mall in Kuala Lumpur can count on the newly opened Mercato store.
Operated by GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd – a subsidiary of DFI Retail Group – the new store spans 1,672 sq m of floor space on the mall’s lower ground floor.
With a fresh new ambience with carefully curated aisles, it offers an extensive range of locally and globally sourced fresh products and quality items.
The conceptualisation of Mercato is anchored upon customers’ feedback to expand the variety of fresh produce, while personifying convenience at its best by improving the store’s layout.
Store operations director for Malaysia and Singapore Mark Scates said Mercato Sunway Putra Mall is the sixth store for the brand, adding that he was confident that Mercato’s presence would offer a brand-new indulgent experience for its customers within the vicinity.
“Mercato firmly believes in bringing quality, value, service and convenience to the customers, so we listened closely to our customers’ needs through focus group surveys conducted prior prepping for the Mercato Sunway Putra Mall.
“Our customers asked for more freshness in the store, so we doubled the fresh produce section’s width and range. We expanded the organic section and the floral section, with the first-in-Mercato fresh herb pots section.
“We also restructured the store layout by moving the check-out counters all the way to the front and widening the space in between aisles. The store is also equipped with brighter lights for customers to navigate through the store comfortably,” he shared.
More fresh selections for all
Mercato Sunway Putra Mall features 2,000 new products ranging from international selections to fresh flowers and herb pots, as well as an additional 100 lines of organic vegetables and 200 lines of organic grocery variety.
Besides great selections of daily necessities, grocery items and baked goods, the store offers unique food and beverage concepts that are updated to align with the fast-paced changes in its customers’ varied lifestyles.
Customers can indulge in the range of fresh baked goods, quick ready-to-eat meals on-the-go, as well as roasted chicken and duck.
Shoppers can also expect to find DFI Retail’s award-winning in-house brand Meadows, which offers a wide range of fresh produce and household essentials.
They can also look forward to the nut-roasting machine, ice-cream kiosk, fresh juice stop and dried fruits section.
On top of it all, in keeping with the times as Malaysians become more health-conscious, Mercato is collaborating with the Rawsome healthy food chain on a do-it-yourself salad bar for fresh and healthier options.
Scates went on to express his gratitude to the passionate team members at Mercato Sunway Putra Mall.
He said, “We are so grateful to have this amazing team with us.
“The dedication and the endless hours that the team have spent have made this store possible.
“For our customers, none of our achievements would have been possible without their unwavering support.”
