PETALING JAYA: National squash player S. Sivasangari could not maintain her good start as the women’s team fell 0-2 to the United States in the World Team Championships semi-finals in Hong Kong on Friday (Dec 13).
The opening tie saw Rachel Arnold take on Amanda Sobhy, with the 45-minute-long match going in Sobhy’s favour as she won 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 5-11, 11-8 to take the first point.
Sivasangari then gave her lead away to Olivia Weaver, who came from behind to win 7-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-2 to deliver the winning point and book their spot in the finals against Egypt.
The women’s team will now fight for third place when they take on Belgium in the third-fourth-placing match
