Sai Hung-Ainaa hammer Filipino pair to claim SEA Cup crown

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ong Sai Hung and Noor Ainaa Amani Ampandi hardly broke sweat en route to winning the mixed doubles title in the SEA Cup in Manila, the Philippines.

The duo only took 12 minutes to dispose of second seeds Van-Aero Dalida-Yvonne Alyssa Dalida of the Philippines 11-5, 11-5 in the final yesterday.Ainaa-Sai Hung had previously defeated Singapore’s Timothy Leong-Vicky Lai in the semi-finals 11-3, 11-7.

Although both players have had their fair share of playing in the mixed doubles category, it is the first time they had played together.

For the 22-year-old Ainaa, it was her second title in the tournament.

She had beaten teammate Chan Yiwen to win the women’s singles title.

The performance in Manila is surely a boost in confidence for Ainaa as she had lost early in all her previous tournaments this year.
