KUALA LUMPUR: Nicol David is on fire in the China Open Squash Championships.

The Malaysian brought seventh seed Laura Massaro of England to her knees in just 29 minutes for an easy 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 win in the second round.

Nicol will face second seed Raneem El Welily of Egypt in the quarter-finals.

Joshna Chinappa of India upset fourth seed Joelle King of New Zealand 4-11, 11-8, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8 to set up a date with fifth seed Camille Serme of France.

Serme had to battle for 69 minutes against Alison Waters of England before prevailing 4-11, 13-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9.

It was end of the road for national No. 1 men’s player Nafiizwan Adnan (pic) after going down 5-11, 9-11, 5-11 to top seed Simon Rosner of Germany in the second round.

Rosner will take on Joel Makin of Wales for a place in the semi-finals.

Makin upset seventh seed Omar Mosaad of Egypt 11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-6.

Abdulla Al Tamimi of Qatar also advanced into the last eight by upsetting eight seed Nicolas Muller of Switzerland 13-11, 11-3, 11-1 to face fourth seed Paul Coll of New Zealand.
