Rugby-Super Rugby Pacific tweaks 'lucky loser' rule in finals

MELBOURNE (Reuters) -Super Rugby Pacific has tweaked its "lucky loser" rule for the first week of the playoffs following criticism that it unfairly awarded the Waikato Chiefs a home semi-final in the 2025 season.

The rule was introduced this year as part of a new six-team playoffs format, allowing the highest-seeded side that loses in the first week of the finals to advance to the semis.
