Fierce competition in store at MCKK Premier 7s rugby tourney

PETALING JAYA: The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) will host the prestigious MCKK Premier 7s Rugby Tournament from June 28 to June 30.

This year’s tournament will feature fierce competition with 24 participating schools, including

international teams from Japan, Indonesia and Taiwan.

These teams will be vying for the coveted NJ Ryan Trophy and the Zaharuddin Alias Best Player Award, adding an international dimension to the competition.

The three-day event will see the return of former champions such as SMK Jalan Tiga (ARAS), Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (EC) Johor Baru, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) and the host team MCKK.

Other formidable contenders, including Royal Military College (MTD), SMK Victoria (VI) Kuala

Lumpur, and Sultan Alam Shah School (SAS) Putrajaya, will also compete for the championship.

Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS) will be the tournament’s title sponsor for this year.

The MCKK Premier 7s has been instrumental in inspiring young rugby players to showcase their talents.

SMK Jalan Tiga (ARAS) clinched the championship title in their debut appearance last year with a commanding 24-0 victory over Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Pahang (SSMP) in the final.
