(Reuters) - All Blacks forwards Scott Barrett and Codie Taylor have committed to New Zealand rugby through to the 2027 World Cup in a boost for Scott Robertson's rebuilding squad.

The contract extensions will also keep the duo at their Super Rugby Pacific club, the Canterbury Crusaders.

Barrett, seen as a potential successor to former All Blacks captain Sam Cane, is vital for New Zealand's second row stocks following the departures of Sam Whitelock and Brodie Retallick.

"Representing my club and country has always been a privilege and to have the opportunity to put my hand up for another World Cup cycle was a big motivation," 30-year-old Barrett said in a statement on Thursday.

"It’s great to have certainty for myself, Hannah, and our young son, and we’re excited about the next chapter."

Hooker Taylor, 33, will target another World Cup win after being a member of New Zealand's triumphant 2015 squad in England.

"Having the opportunity to play through another World Cup cycle and pull on the jerseys I love for a few more years is awesome," said the 85-test forward.

"I’m feeling rejuvenated and excited about what's to come."

Runnersup at last year's World Cup in France, the All Blacks start their international season with a two-test home series against England next month.
