Another shot at gold as Malaysia regu beat the Philippines to set up Thailand final

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia had to dig deep before booking their place in the sepak takraw regu final with a hard-fought win over the Philippines on Monday (Sept 28).

Ahmad Jais Baharun’s side were put under pressure after dropping the opening game in the semi-finals at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Gymnasium.

The turning point came when Azlan Alias and Syahir Rosdi were brought in for Zulkifli Abdul Razak and Afiffuddin Razali, and with the changes, it helped Malaysia regain control of the match.

They went on to complete the comeback with a 10-15, 15-11, 15-7 victory to set up a final showdown against arch-rivals Thailand .

Thailand had earlier secured their place in the final after beating Vietnam 15-7, 15-6 in the other semi-final.
