Farish and Hariz settle for silver after losing to Iran in e-football

Farish Luzman and Hariz Hazmi Hakimin

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s e-sports team missed out on another gold medal after Farish Luzman and Hariz Hazmi Hakimin fell short in the e-football final against Iran at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Wednesday (Sept 23).

The 18-year-old Farish put Malaysia ahead after beating Abolfazi Aghaeinasab 2-1 on mobile at the Aichi Sky Expo Hall.

Hariz, 23, then had a tough task of getting past multiple world champion Hassan Pajani on console, and the Iranian player proved too strong as he beat Hariz 3-0 to give Iran the 4-2 win on aggregate.

Earlier, the Malaysian duo had outplayed Uzbekistan in the semi-finals.

Hariz beat Farrukh Mirkhamitov 5-0 on console, before Farish sealed the win with a 2-0 win against Abubakir Iminjonov on mobile.

The e-sports squad in Japan had earlier delivered a gold through Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira in the Gran Turismo 7 event.
