E-Sports racer Taj Izrin wins Malaysia’s second Asian Games gold in Japan

PETALING JAYA: E-Sports racer Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira delivered Malaysia’s second gold at the Asian Games by winning the Gran Turismo 7 event on Wednesday (Sept 23).

The 27-year-old pulled off a stunning comeback at the Aichi Sky Expo Hall to top the standings after three races.

Taj Izrin had crossed the line in second for the first two races, but fought his way to first in Race 3, which gave him the biggest points haul in the end.

Saudi Arabia’s Naif Abdulhakim S. Alfaleh took silver, while South Korea’s Kim Young-chan settled for bronze.

It was Malaysia’s second gold at the Asiad after karate exponent Adeola Fay Robert delivered the first in the women’s kumite below 55kg on Tuesday.
