Hafizuddin extends Malaysia’s golden weightlifting run in Glasgow

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's weightlifting team continued their golden run at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after Mohd Hafizuddin Roslin struck gold in the men's 88kg event on Tuesday (July 28).

Competing at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Armadillo, Hafizuddin dominated the competition with lifts of 162kg in the snatch and 183kg in the clean and jerk for a Games record total of 345kg.

New Zealand's Cameron Taggart took silver after lifting 154kg in the snatch and 184kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 338kg.

Scotland's Angus Doig claimed bronze with lifts of 135kg in the snatch and 174kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 309kg.

Malaysia have now won four gold medals, all of them coming from weightlifting through Aniq Kasdan (60kg), Aznil Bidin (65kg), Erry Hidayat (79kg) and Hafizuddin (88kg).
