Initially, Izzul lost 57-60 to Thailand’s Phiraphon Mitthasan in the men’s 60-65kg but protested against his opponent after the latter committed an infringement.

The protest worked as Phiraphon had 10 points deducted and Izzul won 57-50 to take the gold.
