PETALING JAYA: Dr Mohd Taufiq Johari has been appointed as the new Youth and Sports Minister, replacing Hannah Yeoh.
The 29-year-old Taufiq is the member of Parliament for Sungai Petani since 2022. He is also the son of the 11th Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Johari Abdul.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday (Dec 16).
The deputy ministerial posts also saw changes, with Mordi Bimol taking over from Adam Adli.
Hannah, who helmed the Youth and Sports Ministry since 2022, has been reassigned as Minister of the Federal Territories, while Adam Adli will serve as Deputy Minister of Higher Education.
The swearing in ceremony will be held at Istana Negara on Wednesday (Dec 17).
