Asian Cup Sepak Takraw: Malaysia emerge as runner-up in men's doubles


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's ambition to register a double victory in the 2025 Asian Cup Sepak Takraw Championship was dashed when they lost 1-2 to arch-rivals Thailand in the doubles final here on Monday (May 12.

In the action held at the Titiwangsa Stadium here, the Malaysian regu of Muhammad Noraizat Nordin and Muhammad Redwan Hakim Muhammad started well to win the first set 15-7.

However, Thailand pair Sirisak Analoon and Tanaphon Sapyen who replaced Boonkoom Tipwong in the first set, managed to recover to win the next two sets 15-10, 15-12.

The defeat saw Malaysia failing to avenge their earlier defeat, having lost to the same foes 0-2, in the doubles group stage on Saturday.

Earlier, the Malaysian takraw squad camp was on cloud nine after winning the Asian Cup final of the quadrant event, defeating Japan 2-0. – Bernama
