Malaysian pair Aleena-Nur Ain strike gold in World Championships

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian lawn bowls duo Aleena Nawawi and Nur Ain Nabilah Tarmizi have won a gold in the World Championships.

The Malaysian pair beat Malta's Rebecca Rixon and Connie-Leigh Rixon 15-11 in the women's pair final at the Broadbeach Bowls Club in Queensland, Australia on Saturday (Sept 9).

This is Malaysia's first gold medal in this year's World Lawn Bowls Championships. Earlier, Idham Amin Ramlee and Izzat Dzulkeplee won the men's bronze medal.

It is also Malaysia's first gold after 15 years as the last person to win a gold in the competition was Safuan Said, who won the men's singles in the 2008 Christchurch Championships.
