KUALA LUMPUR: More than 40,000 runners have registered to take part in the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) to be held on Sept 30 and Oct 1 at Dataran Merdeka.
KLSCM project director Rainer Biemans said the number of participants for this year’s edition is the highest in its history.
“We had 38,000 registrations before but it went up to 40,000, so this is the highest we ever had.
“This year sees the premier distance running event in Malaysia field its largest group of pacers in its history as we introduce pacers for the 10km category as well,” he said after launching Brooks as the official partner of KLSCM.
He added that four categories will be contested at the event, namely 42.2km full marathon, 21.1km half marathon, 10km, 5km distance categories and Kids Dash 1km and 2km categories. — Bernama
