THE paddlers cried unabashedly after losing in the women’s team final, but they need not have done so.

The team of Alice Chang Li Sian, Ho Ying, Im Li Ying, Karen Lyne and Tee Ai Xin had already made the country proud by entering the final for the first time in 30 years.
