Kojiro attributes win to coaches Jin Keat, Lee Lee

Beaming with joy: Penang’s Yong Kojiro posing with his kata gold medal on the podium.

YONG Kojiro took a giant step in emulating the success of his famous mentors Ku Jin Keat and Lim Lee Lee as he continued Penang’s domination by winning the men’s kata, karate’s first gold on offer, at the UiTM Sports Complex in Shah Alam yesterday.

Kojiro, who has been training under 2010 Asian Games champion Jin Keat and Lee Lee since he was six, produced a flawless display to push Pahang’s Abdul Rahim Shah Zulfaqqar into second place. Bronze went to Perak’s Hor Jie Shen and Wong Lih Kwang of Johor.
