Beng Choo re-elected as Softball Asia head


PETALING JAYA: Former Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general Datuk Low Beng Choo has been re-elected as Softball Asia president.

Beng Choo, who is also the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) secretary-general, defended the Asian softball top post during the election that took place during the fourth WBSC Congress held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Softball Asia, in a statement posted on their website, also confirmed that Pan Yi-chuan from Taiwan will serve as the chairman while Japan’s Taeko Utsugi was elected as first vice-president and Sally Swee Gaik Lim from Malaysia as secretary-general.

The Asian governing body also elected Susan Zhang (China), Patrick Ng Ka Him (Hong Kong), Kim Eun-young (South Korea), Jean Henri Lhuillier (the Philippines) and Yotsakrai Phainpanitporn (Thailand) as vice-presidents.

Asia’s governing body of softball also appointed Chia Hsing-chang (Taiwan) as secretary to the chairman and Yutaka Miyake (Japan) as an advisor. — Bernama
