KUALA LUMPUR: Five more officials from the National Sports Council (NSC) have been tested positive for Covid-19 and it has triggered a move to sanitise the working area in Bukit Jalil.
The five were among the 75 officials who did swab tests following a few earlier positive cases, involving seven athletes and one official who reported for their their quarantine-based approach training on Monday (Jan 4).
NSC director general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail said three of the officials had been involved in facilitating the athletes return to Bukit Jalil while two others were positive from outside source.
“We have been advised by the Health Ministry to sanitise the working area where these officers had been based at, immediately, ” said Shapawi.
“And all those who have had close contact with the officials had also been asked to self-quarantine at home. Everyone has been reminded to follow the SOP, ” he added
On Monday, NSC announced that seven athletes infected were two from athletics, two wheelchair tennis players, two wheelchair basketball players, one hearing-impaired tenpin bowling athlete and one boccia official.
