It’s never too late

Last-ditch win: Malaysia’s Zulfazly Zufakar (right) during his bout with Indonesia’s Hanifan Kusumah in the tanding final. Zulfazly delivered the winning kick with just minutes left to win the gold medal with a 3-2 score yesterday.

IT was a bad first three days for the silat exponents. They had only one gold and two bronze medals to show and what’s worse, the only real news in the team came when captain Faizal Nasir was knocked out cold by Filipino Dines Dumaan in the 55kg tanding event and had to be rushed to hospital.

Yesterday, there was finally cheer in the camp. Faizal was out of hospital and watching as Zulfazly Zufakar made it count on the last day of the competition.
