KUALA LUMPUR: It was a brilliant start for the Malaysian karate team at the Asian Junior Championships when they managed to bag a gold and three bronzes on the opening day.

Khavin Raj was the hero at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium (KLBA) on Friday. He downed Japan’s Minami Yunosuke 2-1 in the boys’ cadet kumite below 52kg final to give Malaysia their first gold of the tournament.
