KUALA LUMPUR: The local interest in the qualifying rounds of the Malaysian Open ATP 250 fizzled out after veteran Si Yew Ming fell to a crushing 6-0, 6-1 defeat to India’s Sanam Singh in the second qualifying round at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
The 33-year-old Yew Ming looked good early on after becoming the first Malaysian to win a match in the tournament’s history by beating compatriot Colin Wong 6-3, 6-1 in the first qualifying round.
