KUALA LUMPUR: Former international Kwan Yoke Meng is among the candidates earmarked for the job of high performance manager in the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
The BAM exco will make a decision on who they want for the job today when they meet to deliberate on several key matters.
It is learnt that besides Yoke Meng, the BAM president, Datuk Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, is also looking at several other former players and candidates outside of the BAM set-up for the post.
The presence of a high performance manager is expected to strengthen the coaching and training programme of the national association.
The exco will also look into the findings from a three-tiered post-mortem conducted following Malaysia’s tame exit from the Thomas Cup Finals in May with a 0-3 defeat by China in the semi-finals.
The BAM have come out with new methods and implementations following a series of meeting with the players, coaches and a think-tank group, who include Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, Razif Sidek, Datuk James Selvaraj and representatives from National Sports Council, National Sports Institute and BAM officials.
The exco will also decide on the recommendations made by the disciplinary committee on action to be taken against doubles shuttler Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari, who lost his cool when taunted by unruly fans during the Thomas Cup Finals group tie against Japan.
